Parts of Speech
Read a sentence, then sort each word by its job — noun, verb, or adjective.
Read the sentence
The happy dog runs.
Tap a word, then tap the box it belongs in.
🧍 Noun — a person, place, or thing (dog, beach).
🏃 Verb — an action word (runs, bakes).
🎨 Adjective — describes a noun (happy, sandy).
What are the parts of speech?
Every word in a sentence has a job. Learning those jobs — starting with nouns, verbs, and adjectives — is how grammar starts to make sense and how writing gets stronger.
How to use this tool
- Read the sentence at the top.
- Tap a word (it says itself aloud), then tap the box it belongs in.
- Correct picks lock in; a wrong pick bounces back so you can try again.
Why it helps
Sorting real words in real sentences beats memorizing definitions. Say each word’s job out loud as you place it and the categories start to feel obvious.
Good for
First and second grade word jobs through middle-school grammar review.
