Write "I see a ___."

Complete and write the sentence frame "I see a ___." with a word that makes sense, using correct capitalization and punctuation.

A sentence frame is a sentence with a blank to fill in, like a fill-in-the-blank puzzle. This week the frame is "I see a ___."

Look around, pick something you can actually see, and write it in the blank. Do not forget the capital I and the period at the end.

📋 For the teacher
Teach it (10–15 min):
  • Sit somewhere with lots to look at, like a window or a busy room, so there are plenty of real choices for the blank.
  • Remind your child that the word I is always written as a capital letter, even in the middle of a sentence, not just at the start.
  • Let your child fill the blank with different objects several times, for practice and for fun.
  • Check the whole sentence together at the end: capital at the start, capital I, period at the end.
Talk about it:
  • What did you see and write about today?
  • Why is the word I always a capital letter?
  • Can you think of three different things to finish "I see a ___" with?

Mastery looks like: They write "I see a ___." correctly several times with different endings, always capitalizing I and ending with a period.

Common stumbles: Writing i as lowercase; forgetting the period; writing something they cannot actually see instead of a real object.
