Count on to 100 from anywhere

Count forward to 100 starting from any given number within 100, not just from 1 or from a decade.

Remember counting on from week 8? Now let us stretch that skill all the way to 100. Start anywhere, even a number like 47, and keep the sequence going.

This shows you truly know the number order, not just a memorized chant starting at 1.

📋 For the teacher
Teach it (10–15 min):
  • Call out a random start number and see how far your child can count on smoothly.
  • Pay special attention to decade crossings, such as 68 to 70, or 95 to 100, while counting on.
  • Use a hundred chart so your child can point along and double check.
  • This is a flexible, playful skill. Mix in easy and tricky start numbers.
Talk about it:
  • Is it harder to count on from a number in the middle of a decade or right before a new one?
  • What is the longest count-on you tried today?
  • Can you pick a number for me to count on from?

Mastery looks like: They count on fluently to 100 from any starting number, including across decade boundaries.

Common stumbles: Restarting from 1 or from the nearest ten instead of the exact given number; losing the sequence at a decade crossing.
