Illustrated sentence of the week

Produce one polished, illustrated sentence: a drawing paired with a matching, correctly written sentence.

This week you put everything together: a careful drawing and one strong sentence that matches it. This is your illustrated sentence of the week.

Take your time on both parts. The picture and the words should tell the same story.

📋 For the teacher
Teach it (10–15 min):
  • Give extra time this week. A polished piece takes longer than a quick daily practice page.
  • Encourage a full round: draw, say the sentence out loud, count the words, then write.
  • Check both sentence rules and spacing before calling it finished.
  • Display this one. A finished, cared-for piece deserves a spot on the wall or the fridge.
Talk about it:
  • What is your illustrated sentence about this week?
  • What part took the most time, the drawing or the sentence?
  • Where should we display your finished work?

Mastery looks like: They independently produce a drawing and a matching sentence that is correctly capitalized, spaced, and punctuated.

Common stumbles: A sentence that does not match the drawing; rushing through the writing after a slow, careful drawing; skipping the ending mark on the final copy.
