Write about the weather today

Observe the weather, then write a sentence describing it accurately, applying sentence rules learned so far.

Writers often write about the real world around them. Today, look outside and notice the weather. Then write a true sentence about it.

Use everything you have learned: a capital at the start, a describing word if you want one, and the correct ending mark.

📋 For the teacher
Teach it (10–15 min):
  • Step outside or look out a window together before writing, so the sentence is based on something real.
  • Encourage a specific describing word (sunny, windy, cold, gray) rather than a vague one.
  • Let your child choose between a telling sentence and a question this week, applying last week lesson too.
  • Keep a simple weekly weather sentence going all year if it becomes a fun habit.
Talk about it:
  • What was the weather like today, in your own words?
  • How did you decide which describing word to use?
  • Did you write a telling sentence or a question today?

Mastery looks like: They observe real weather and write an accurate sentence about it, correctly capitalized and punctuated.

Common stumbles: Writing a weather sentence that does not match what is actually happening outside; forgetting the ending mark; using a vague word instead of a specific one.
