Checkpoint: All Sounds and Blending

Show automatic recall of all 26 letter sounds and blend spoken three-sound words without hints.

This is a checkpoint week. No new sounds today. It is a chance to show everything built over eight weeks: every letter sound, plus blending.

Try each one cold, meaning without any help first. Whatever feels shaky just tells us exactly what to practice a little more.

📋 For the teacher
Teach it (10–15 min):
  • Go through all 26 sounds in a mixed, shuffled order, not alphabetical, so this checks real recall.
  • Then blend five or six spoken three-sound words in a row without any writing at all.
  • Note any sound or any blend that needed a hint, and plan a few extra minutes on those next week.
  • Keep this warm and low-pressure. It is a snapshot of real progress, not a pass-or-fail test.
Talk about it:
  • Which letter sounds felt completely automatic today?
  • Was blending easier or harder than saying single sounds?
  • What is one sound you want to practice a little more?

Mastery looks like: They recall all 26 letter sounds instantly and blend spoken three-sound words accurately, without hints.

Common stumbles: Needing a hint on a letter practiced many times already; blending too slowly for the sounds to connect into a real word.
