Classify patterns and correlations.
- 1.Data (0,10), (1,13), (2,16), (3,19) - find the slope (rate) connecting them.
- 2.Classify the correlation: as study time goes up, errors go down.
- 3.y-values 5, 10, 20, 40 for x = 0,1,2,3 - linear, quadratic, or exponential?
- 4.y-values 0, 3, 8, 15, 24 for x = 1,2,3,4,5 - check the pattern of differences. Linear or not?
- 5.Two variables are strongly correlated. Does that prove one causes the other?
- 6.A scatter plot of (temperature, ice cream sales) slopes upward. Someone claims "hot weather causes people to buy ice cream." Is this correlation or causation, and is the claim reasonable?
