Independently write a full literary analysis paragraph using claim-evidence-explanation structure with a correctly punctuated quote, as a combined checkpoint for the novel-study unit.
This is the third checkpoint of the year, covering the novel-study unit: historical fiction traits, character motivation, symbolism, genre comparison, author's craft, and the claim-evidence-explanation structure from Week 24.
This week you will write one complete, independent analytical paragraph about your current book: a claim about a character, theme, or symbol, at least one correctly quoted piece of evidence, and an explanation that connects the two -- built using everything from the last nine weeks.
Mastery looks like: They independently produce a complete, correctly punctuated C-E-E paragraph that draws on at least one novel-study analytical skill beyond plot summary.
Common stumbles: Choosing a claim that is really just a plot fact, not arguable, rather than a genuine interpretive claim.
