Division fluency circuit

Build speed and accuracy across basic division facts and multi-digit division, choosing an efficient method for each.

This week is a fluency circuit: a mixed set of problems moving from quick basic facts up to full multi-digit division, meant to build both speed AND accuracy together.

For each problem, choose whichever method is fastest for you right now: instant recall for a small fact, or the standard algorithm for a bigger number.

📋 For the teacher
Teach it (10–15 min):
  • Treat this like the multiplication facts practice week: the goal is speed and accuracy together, not one at the expense of the other.
  • Let them choose their fastest reliable method for each problem rather than forcing the same approach every time.
  • Time a short circuit and celebrate improvement over the previous try, not perfection on the first attempt.
  • Note the 1-2 divisors that still need warm-up practice and revisit them in short daily bursts.
Talk about it:
  • Which division facts are automatic for you now?
  • Which multi-digit division method is fastest for you?
  • Which one or two divisors still need more practice?

Mastery looks like: They divide multi-digit numbers by 1-digit divisors quickly and accurately, mixing recalled facts with the standard algorithm as needed.

Common stumbles: Slowing way down on basic facts that should be automatic; rushing multi-digit problems and skipping the subtract-check step.
