Third Grade · Math · week 18

Checkpoint: all × facts and linked ÷

Show fluency with the full times table (through 10) and the division facts that go with them.

Big milestone: you now have strategies for EVERY fact through 10, and you can turn any of them into division. This checkpoint shows how far you have come.

For anything still slow, you have a strategy — ten-minus-one for 9s, split for 7s, double-double-double for 8s. Nobody has to be stuck.

📋 For the teacher
Teach it (10–15 min):
  • Give a warm mixed review across all tables and both operations.
  • For slow facts, require the strategy out loud — keep building understanding.
  • Note the last few facts to automate over the coming weeks.
  • Mark the milestone: the whole times table is within reach now.
Talk about it:
  • Which facts are automatic now?
  • How do you turn a × fact into a ÷ fact?
  • What is your plan for the last slow facts?

Mastery looks like: They recall facts across the full table and divide by recalling the matching multiplication fact.

Common stumbles: Guessing on the hard few instead of using a strategy; forgetting the × / ÷ link.
