Best Season Paragraph

Write a complete opinion paragraph -- opinion, two linked reasons, and a closing sentence -- about the best season.

This week you put the whole opinion shape together in one paragraph: an opinion sentence, two linked reasons, and a closing sentence. That is four sentences built from tools you already have.

Choose a season you can really defend, and make sure your two reasons are different from each other.

📋 For the teacher
Teach it (10–15 min):
  • Let your child defend a season you might not expect -- winter and its own reasons can be just as strong as summer.
  • Read the whole four-sentence paragraph aloud and check that it flows as one connected piece.
  • Watch for a closing sentence that copies the opening word for word, and nudge toward new wording.
  • Celebrate the first full opinion paragraph this unit -- it uses every tool learned so far.
Talk about it:
  • Which season did you choose, and what are your two reasons?
  • How does your closing sentence say your opinion again in a new way?
  • Could someone who likes a different season still understand your reasons?

Mastery looks like: They independently write a four-sentence opinion paragraph with an opinion, two distinct reasons, and a closing sentence.

Common stumbles: Choosing two reasons that overlap too much, or forgetting the closing sentence out of habit.
