Year-end data and array fair

Combine the year's data, array, and fraction skills in a final hands-on project and review.

This final week is a celebration of everything you have learned about data, arrays, and equal shares this year. You will build, count, compare, and share your own project, an "array fair."

A great math project shows your work clearly enough that someone else could look at it and understand exactly what you found, without you saying a word.

📋 For the teacher
Teach it (10–15 min):
  • Let them choose their own array fair exhibit -- buttons, blocks, coins, stickers -- ownership makes the review feel like a celebration, not a test.
  • Ask them to present their project out loud to you or another family member, explaining the array, the data, and the fraction parts used.
  • Use this week to notice growth: pull out a week 1 worksheet if you saved one, and compare it to this week's work.
  • Keep the tone celebratory -- this is the finish line for a full year of second-grade math.
Talk about it:
  • Which part of your array fair project are you most proud of?
  • How did arrays, data, and fractions each show up in your project?
  • What second-grade math skill do you feel most confident about now?

Mastery looks like: They independently combine arrays, a data display, and equal-shares skills into one coherent project and explain it clearly.

Common stumbles: Rushing the project without explaining the reasoning behind choices; forgetting to double check counts and totals before presenting.
