Seasons Walk: What Changed Outside?

Take a walk outside and notice real signs of the current season.

The world outside changes with the seasons. Take a walk and look for clues.

Are the leaves green or falling? Is the air hot or cool? Look closely and see what you find.

📋 For the teacher
Teach it (10–15 min):
  • Take an easy walk together, even just around the yard or block.
  • Pause often and ask what do you notice, instead of pointing everything out yourself.
  • Talk about how the walk might feel different in a different season.
  • Bring home one small found object, such as a leaf or a rock, to remember the walk.
Talk about it:
  • What was your favorite thing we saw on our walk?
  • How does this season feel different from a season we do not have right now?
  • What do you think we will see if we take this same walk in a few months?

Mastery looks like: They can name the current season and point out at least one real outdoor clue that shows it.

Common stumbles: Season names can get mixed up at this age; focus on what they observe rather than on memorizing the season word.
