What Plants Need: Sun, Water, Soil

Review and state clearly what all plants need to grow.

You have grown a bean and looked at flowers and trees. Every plant needs the same basic things.

Plants need sun, water, and soil to grow strong and healthy.

📋 For the teacher
Teach it (10–15 min):
  • Walk around your home and yard finding real plants together.
  • For each plant, ask where does it get sun, water, and soil, as a quick check.
  • Look back at your bean plant growth so far as living proof of these needs.
  • Keep this simple: sun, water, soil are the three big needs for this age.
Talk about it:
  • What are the three things every plant needs?
  • What happens to a plant that does not get enough water?
  • How has your bean plant changed since week 19?

Mastery looks like: They can confidently list sun, water, and soil as what plants need to grow.

Common stumbles: Forgetting one of the three needs is common; connecting each one to the bean plant care routine helps it stick.
