Build a Cozy Nest From Blankets

Build a nest-like shelter from blankets and pillows, connecting it to why animals build homes.

Animals build homes to feel safe and warm. Birds build nests. Today, build your own cozy nest!

Use blankets and pillows to build a soft, safe spot just your size.

📋 For the teacher
Teach it (10–15 min):
  • Help gather safe, soft materials and let your child direct the building.
  • Get inside a big nest together if there is room; shared silly moments count as learning.
  • Connect the nest back to real animal homes talked about in earlier weeks.
  • Read a book together inside the finished nest for a cozy finish.
Talk about it:
  • What made your nest extra cozy?
  • How is your nest like a bird nest? How is it different?
  • What would you want to do inside your nest?

Mastery looks like: They can build a simple soft nest with help and explain that it is for feeling safe and warm, like an animal home.

Common stumbles: Wanting to use every blanket in the house is common and fine; gently guide toward a nest-sized pile.
