Farm Friends and Their Sounds

Identify common farm animals and the sounds they make.

Farms are home to many animals. Cows, pigs, chickens, and sheep all live there.

Each farm animal makes its own special sound. Practice them!

📋 For the teacher
Teach it (10–15 min):
  • Take turns making farm animal sounds and guessing which animal it is.
  • Look at pictures or a book of a real farm if you cannot visit one.
  • Talk about what each farm animal gives us, such as eggs, wool, or milk.
  • Act out walking and moving like each farm animal for fun.
Talk about it:
  • Which farm animal sound is your favorite to make?
  • Have you ever seen a real farm animal? Which one?
  • What do you think a whole farm sounds like at once?

Mastery looks like: They can match at least three farm animals to their correct sounds.

Common stumbles: Mixing up similar sounds, such as a sheep and a goat, is common and fine at this age.
