Five Senses Scavenger Hunt

Name the five senses and use them to find things around the house.

You have five senses. They help you learn about the world around you.

Your senses are sight, hearing, smell, taste, and touch. Go find things with all five!

📋 For the teacher
Teach it (10–15 min):
  • Walk through the house together and name a sense at every stop.
  • Say the sense words out loud again and again: sight, hearing, smell, taste, touch.
  • Let your child lead the hunt. Follow their curiosity instead of a checklist.
  • Celebrate every find, even silly ones. There are no wrong answers on a scavenger hunt.
Talk about it:
  • Which sense did you use the most today?
  • Can you point to your eyes, ears, nose, and mouth?
  • What is your favorite thing to smell in our house?

Mastery looks like: They can name at least three of the five senses and correctly match each one to a body part.

Common stumbles: Mixing up smell and taste is common at this age; the senses sharpen with practice, not with lecture.
