My favorite letter book

Create a simple personal book about a favorite letter, combining its name, sound, and matching pictures.

Pick your favorite letter of all the ones you know. Today you make a whole little book about it.

Your letter book can have its name, its sound, and pictures of things that start with it.

📋 For the teacher
Teach it (10–15 min):
  • Let the child choose the letter; ownership makes the project meaningful.
  • Keep the book simple: a few folded pages are plenty, with one idea per page.
  • Help with writing the words, but let the child do the drawing and the choosing.
  • Read the finished book aloud together at the end, with real pride in the finished project.
Talk about it:
  • Why did you choose this letter?
  • What is your favorite page in your book?
  • Who do you want to read your letter book to?

Mastery looks like: They complete a simple personal book about one letter, correctly naming its sound and at least two matching words or pictures.

Common stumbles: Losing interest partway through; choosing pictures that do not actually start with the chosen letter.
