Blend me: d-o-g, s-u-n

Continue building oral-blending fluency with new words, working a little faster and more independently.

More blending today! Listen to every sound, then squish them together into one word.

d... o... g blends into dog. s... u... n blends into sun. You are getting faster at this every time.

📋 For the teacher
Teach it (10–15 min):
  • Pick up the pace slightly from last week now that the idea of blending is familiar.
  • Mix in a couple of two-sound words (go, me) alongside three-sound words for variety.
  • Let the child say the separate sounds to you sometimes, and you do the blending -- trading roles builds the skill from both sides.
  • Celebrate every successful blend; this remains genuinely hard work for a four-year-old.
Talk about it:
  • Which was easier: a two-sound word or a three-sound word?
  • Can you say three sounds for me to blend?
  • What is your favorite word we blended today?

Mastery looks like: They blend both two-sound and three-sound words into the correct whole word with growing speed and confidence.

Common stumbles: Struggling more with three-sound words than two; needing the sounds repeated more than once.
