Sound show-and-tell

Present an object to family, naming it and confidently stating its first sound, as a soft checkpoint of Unit 2.

Time to show off! Pick one special object, tell everyone its name, and say its first sound loud and proud.

Show-and-tell is your chance to prove just how many sounds you can catch now.

📋 For the teacher
Teach it (10–15 min):
  • Let the child choose the object completely on their own; ownership makes the performance meaningful.
  • Practice the two-line script together once before the real performance: name the object, then its first sound.
  • Gather a small, warm audience -- this can be just one other family member.
  • This is a soft checkpoint. Notice quietly how confidently the six sounds from this unit come through.
Talk about it:
  • What did you choose to show and tell?
  • How did it feel to perform in front of an audience?
  • What sound did your object start with?

Mastery looks like: They confidently name a chosen object and correctly state its first sound in front of an audience.

Common stumbles: Forgetting to say the first sound after naming the object; feeling too shy to perform without extra encouragement.
