Portfolio party: your year of art

Look back across a whole year of art and movement work, and reflect on how their skills have grown.

This is it: the very last week. You mixed colors, cut shapes, built patterns, and drew your own story this year.

Today is a portfolio party. Look back at everything, from your very first color mix to your newest framed piece.

📋 For the teacher
Teach it (10–15 min):
  • Gather the whole year of art together, if possible, for a real side-by-side look back.
  • Point out specific, real growth: steadier scissor cuts, braver color choices, more detailed drawings.
  • Celebrate this milestone warmly. A whole year of hands-on art and movement is a big accomplishment.
  • Keep a few standout pieces safe, and consider passing the rest along with pride.
Talk about it:
  • What is the biggest way your art has changed this year?
  • What was your favorite activity of the whole year?
  • What do you want to make more of next year?

Mastery looks like: They compare early and recent work, naming at least one real way their skills have grown.

Common stumbles: Focusing only on which piece looks "best" rather than noticing real growth in skill and effort.
