Craft fair day

Display pattern crafts made this unit and name the pattern in each one.

This whole unit was about patterns: beads, stamps, sounds, chains, nature, songs, and weaving.

Today is craft fair day. Set out your pattern crafts like a little fair and explain each pattern.

📋 For the teacher
Teach it (10–15 min):
  • Set up a little fair table or blanket with all the unit pattern crafts spread out.
  • Let your child be the fair vendor, explaining each pattern to visitors, even stuffed-animal visitors.
  • Ask your child to say each pattern out loud in words, like circle, square, circle, square.
  • Praise the range of patterns tried: color, shape, sound, movement, and nature.
Talk about it:
  • Which pattern craft is your favorite?
  • What is a pattern, in your own words?
  • Where do you see patterns in everyday life?

Mastery looks like: They can identify and say the repeating pattern in each of their own crafts.

Common stumbles: Describing a piece without naming the actual repeating order, like saying "pretty" instead of the colors in order.
