Pattern parade

Combine a movement pattern and a visual pattern into a short parade, showing patterns with the whole body.

You have made patterns with beads, stamps, sounds, and now your whole body will join in.

Today you will march in a movement pattern, like stomp-stomp-clap, while carrying something patterned.

📋 For the teacher
Teach it (10–15 min):
  • Clear a path through the house or yard for a real parade route.
  • Model the movement pattern first, keeping it simple: two or three steps repeating.
  • Let your child pick which patterned craft to carry in the parade.
  • Make it festive. Music in the background helps keep the marching rhythm going.
Talk about it:
  • What movement pattern did you march in?
  • What patterned object did you carry?
  • What new parade pattern could we try next time?

Mastery looks like: They repeat a simple movement pattern consistently while parading and can lead someone else in it.

Common stumbles: Drifting into free dancing and losing the repeating step pattern partway through.
