Red hunt day

Identify the color red and find red objects by looking around the house and yard.

Red is a color you already know. Fire trucks are red. Apples can be red. Stop signs are red.

Today you will wear something red and go on a hunt. Look in every room. How many red things can you find?

📋 For the teacher
Teach it (10–15 min):
  • Walk from room to room with your child, pointing and naming: that one is red.
  • Make it a real hunt. Count out loud together every time you find one.
  • Gently correct near misses, like pink or orange, by holding the item next to something truly red.
  • End by lining up all the red finds together and admiring the collection.
Talk about it:
  • How many red things did we find?
  • What was your favorite red thing?
  • Can you think of a red thing we do not have at home?

Mastery looks like: They correctly point to and name red objects and can tell red apart from pink or orange.

Common stumbles: Confusing red with pink or orange, since all three are related warm colors.
