Obstacle course day

Move through a simple obstacle course using different movements: crawl, jump, balance, and walk.

An obstacle course is a path with different challenges along the way. Crawl under one part, jump over another, balance across a third.

Today you will build one together, then move through it using your whole body.

📋 For the teacher
Teach it (10–15 min):
  • Build the course together using safe household items: cushions, chairs, tape, boxes.
  • Walk through it yourself first to check it is clear of anything sharp or breakable.
  • Name each movement out loud as your child does it: crawling, jumping, balancing.
  • Time a run for fun, then let your child try to beat their own time, not anyone else's.
Talk about it:
  • Which obstacle was your favorite?
  • Which movement was hardest: crawling, jumping, or balancing?
  • What new obstacle should we add next time?

Mastery looks like: They complete a simple obstacle course, performing each named movement in order.

Common stumbles: Rushing through and skipping a movement, like walking around instead of crawling under.
