Shape-hunt collage

Find and cut out circles, squares, and triangles from paper, and glue them into a shape collage.

You know circles, squares, and triangles now. Today you will hunt for those shapes on paper and cut them out.

Glue your shapes onto a new page to build a shape collage. It can be anything you imagine.

📋 For the teacher
Teach it (10–15 min):
  • Draw the shapes big and bold on scrap paper first if none are already printed for cutting.
  • Let your child choose the arrangement. A robot, a rocket, or a face made of shapes is common and wonderful.
  • Reinforce the shape names as they glue: name the triangle, name the square.
  • Offer help with tricky corners, but let your child do as much of the cutting as they can.
Talk about it:
  • Which shapes did you use?
  • What did you make with them?
  • Which shape was easiest to cut?

Mastery looks like: They cut out circles, squares, and triangles reasonably well and arrange them into a picture.

Common stumbles: Rounding off the corners of squares and triangles while cutting, turning them into circles.
