Publish one story for the fridge

Produce one final, polished, published piece of writing worthy of display, applying every skill learned this year.

This is it: your last piece of the year. You will publish one story, which means making a neat, final copy worth showing off.

Use everything you know: neat letters, spaces between words, a capital at the start, an ending mark, and maybe even a feeling word or two.

📋 For the teacher
Teach it (10–15 min):
  • Treat this as a true celebration. This piece deserves real display space, like the fridge or a wall.
  • Let your child lead the topic choice completely. Their own idea will mean the most to them.
  • Walk through the whole process together: draft, check, then a careful final copy, exactly like real authors do.
  • Look back at week 1 handwriting next to this piece. That comparison is the best proof of a full year of growth.
Talk about it:
  • What did you choose to write about for your final piece?
  • What part of the writing process did you enjoy the most this year?
  • How does your writing today compare to your very first week of writing?

Mastery looks like: They independently draft, check, and publish one polished piece of writing that reflects the full range of skills learned this year.

Common stumbles: Skipping the draft-and-check steps and rushing straight to a messy final copy; losing interest partway through the final neat copy.
