Sun-scientist review

Recall and explain at least three key ideas about the sun, shadows, and seasons learned this unit.

This is a review and a celebration of everything you learned about the sun this unit: how sunlight warms surfaces, how shadows change during the day, and how seasons bring more or less daylight and warmth.

Look back at your charts, traces, and photos from this unit before you begin, since real evidence makes your explanations stronger.

📋 For the teacher
Teach it (10–15 min):
  • Look back through the unit's charts, chalk traces, and photos together before starting.
  • Ask your child to explain each idea in their own words, rather than repeating yours.
  • Let them pick a favorite experiment from the unit and explain why it stood out.
  • Ask what they would like to investigate next, about weather, living things, or the sun.
Talk about it:
  • What was your favorite sun experiment this unit, and why?
  • What is one sun fact you want to tell someone else?
  • What do you want to find out next?

Mastery looks like: They correctly recall and explain at least three key ideas from the sun, shadow, and seasons unit in their own words.

Common stumbles: Mixing up which experiment showed which idea; needing heavy prompting to recall anything without looking back at notes or photos, which is fine to revisit together.
