Ramp olympics

Complete several ramp and motion challenges, correctly explaining the force idea behind at least two of them.

This week is a review, an "olympics" using everything you learned about pushes, pulls, and motion: steepness, push strength, direction, and slowing down.

At each event, think before you test. What did you learn this month that might help you here?

📋 For the teacher
Teach it (10–15 min):
  • Set up two or three simple stations: farthest roll, target landing, and fastest stop.
  • Ask your child to explain their strategy for each event before they test it.
  • Cheer enthusiastically, but keep circling back to "why did you set it up that way?"
  • Wrap up by asking which idea from the whole unit felt the most useful today.
Talk about it:
  • Which event was your favorite, and why?
  • Which idea from this month did you use the most today?
  • What is one thing that surprised you about pushes and pulls?

Mastery looks like: They complete multiple ramp and motion challenges and correctly explain the force idea, such as steepness or surface, behind at least two of them.

Common stumbles: Rushing into a challenge without predicting or planning first; forgetting to apply earlier lessons, like fair testing, in the excitement of a game.
