Take care of something for a week

Take daily responsibility for meeting a living thing's needs and record at least one real change observed.

This week your job is to be responsible for a living thing every single day. You will check on your sprout from week 13, or a pet or plant at home, and make sure its needs are met. Responsibility means doing the job even on days you do not feel like it.

Living things change a little bit every day, but the changes are often small. You have to look closely to notice them.

📋 For the teacher
Teach it (10–15 min):
  • Assign one clear daily task, like watering the sprout, and do it together at the same time each day.
  • Keep a simple log: a quick drawing or a few words each day showing what you noticed.
  • If a day is missed, talk honestly about what might happen instead of skipping the conversation.
  • Praise the responsibility itself, not just a pretty result, since living things sometimes struggle no matter what.
Talk about it:
  • What changed about your plant or pet today?
  • What would happen if you forgot to care for it for many days?
  • How did it feel to be responsible for something living?

Mastery looks like: They consistently perform the daily care task and describe at least one specific, real change observed over the week.

Common stumbles: Forgetting a day of care; not looking closely enough to notice small, gradual changes.
