Questions After Reading: Who and Where

Answer simple who and where questions about a story after reading or hearing it.

After a story, two questions unlock a lot: who was it about, and where did it happen? This week you practice both, every time you finish a story.

Who is a person or an animal. Where is a place, like a farm, a pond, or a house.

📋 For the teacher
Teach it (10–15 min):
  • Ask "who" and "where" as two separate, simple questions right after finishing any story.
  • Point to a picture in the book if the words alone do not make the place clear.
  • Use the words who and where by name so your child learns the questions themselves, not just the answers.
  • Make this a habit after every single book this week, not just a one-time activity.
Talk about it:
  • Who was the story about today?
  • Where did the story happen?
  • Which question was easier to answer, who or where?

Mastery looks like: They correctly answer who and where questions about a story right after reading or hearing it.

Common stumbles: Naming an action instead of a character when asked who; skipping the where question or answering with an event instead of a place.
