Read to Someone Every Day

Read a short book or passage aloud to a real listener every day, building reading stamina and confidence.

Reading gets stronger with real practice, the same way running or swimming does. This week you read out loud to a real person every single day.

It does not have to be a new book each time. Reading the same favorite book again to someone new still counts, and it still helps.

📋 For the teacher
Teach it (10–15 min):
  • Find a real listener each day, even if it is the same person or a younger sibling who just enjoys the story.
  • Let your child choose the book most days, since choice keeps the habit fun.
  • Keep sessions short, five to ten minutes, so the daily habit feels easy to keep up.
  • Notice out loud any small improvement in speed or smoothness across the week.
Talk about it:
  • Who did you read to today?
  • Which book did you enjoy reading out loud the most this week?
  • Did reading feel easier by the end of the week than at the start?

Mastery looks like: They read aloud to a real listener every day this week, showing steady comfort and stamina with the practice.

Common stumbles: Skipping a day of reading practice; rushing through in a flat voice just to finish instead of reading with care.
