Symbols Show-and-Tell

Present at least two symbols learned this year, each with one accurate fact, including your own family flag.

This week you will show and tell about the symbols you learned this year -- flags, the eagle, famous places, and the flag you made for your own family.

Show-and-tell is a great way to prove how much you remember, and to celebrate a whole year of learning.

📋 For the teacher
Teach it (10–15 min):
  • Set up a simple show-and-tell at home and let your child present two or three symbols, including their own family flag.
  • Ask a genuine follow-up question about one symbol to encourage more explaining.
  • Celebrate the whole year of social studies learning, not just this one unit.
  • Let your child choose the order of their own presentation.
Talk about it:
  • Which symbol did you like learning about the most?
  • What is one thing you are proud to know now that you did not know at the start of the year?
  • Which symbol would you like to learn even more about?

Mastery looks like: They can present at least two symbols with one accurate fact about each, including their own family flag.

Common stumbles: Mixing up which fact belongs to which symbol is common once several have been learned; a review week like this one is exactly what helps it stick.
