Map-Maker Gallery

Present a self-made map from this unit and correctly explain at least two features on it.

This week you get to be a map-maker and show off the maps you made this unit: your room, your home, and your street.

Explaining your own map to someone else is a great way to show what you have learned.

📋 For the teacher
Teach it (10–15 min):
  • Set up a simple "gallery" at home with all the maps made this unit.
  • Let your child give you a guided tour, pointing and explaining in their own words.
  • Ask a genuine follow-up question about one map to encourage more explaining.
  • Celebrate the finished collection -- three real maps is real work.
Talk about it:
  • Which map was your favorite to make?
  • What was the hardest part of making a map?
  • What would you add to your street map if you kept working on it?

Mastery looks like: They can present a self-made map and correctly explain at least two features on it.

Common stumbles: Forgetting which map showed what is common once several maps pile up; explaining each one out loud, like this week, is exactly what fixes that.
