A Map of My Bedroom

Draw or describe a simple bird's-eye-view map of your bedroom with at least three items placed correctly.

A map is a picture that shows where things are. A map looks down at a place from above, like a bird looking down from the sky.

This week you will make a map of your own bedroom, showing where your bed, door, and other things really are.

📋 For the teacher
Teach it (10–15 min):
  • Help your child draw a real simple map of their own bedroom this week.
  • Stand in the room together and talk through where each item really is before drawing it.
  • Use simple shapes -- squares and rectangles are enough for a first map.
  • Compare the finished map to the real room and check that things are in the right place.
Talk about it:
  • What would you put on a map of your room?
  • Why do maps look different from photographs?
  • What was the hardest part of making your map?

Mastery looks like: They can draw or describe a bedroom map with at least three items placed correctly.

Common stumbles: Drawing items from the side instead of from above is genuinely tricky at this age and is completely expected at first.
