Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow

Use the words yesterday, today, and tomorrow correctly to describe real events in time.

Today is the day happening right now. Yesterday already happened. Tomorrow has not happened yet.

These three words help you talk about time, even without looking at a calendar.

📋 For the teacher
Teach it (10–15 min):
  • At breakfast, ask your child to name one thing from yesterday.
  • During the day, ask your child to name one thing happening today.
  • At bedtime, ask your child to guess or plan one thing for tomorrow.
  • Gently correct mix-ups by asking "has that already happened, or not yet?"
Talk about it:
  • What is something fun that happened yesterday?
  • What are you doing today?
  • What are you looking forward to tomorrow?

Mastery looks like: They correctly use yesterday, today, and tomorrow to describe real events in the right time order.

Common stumbles: Swapping yesterday and tomorrow is very common at this age and improves with daily practice.
