Test each table or situation for proportionality. Show the ratio you compare for each pair, and give the constant ratio when it is proportional.
- 1.Table: x = 2, 4, 8 and y = 6, 12, 24. Is this proportional? Give the constant ratio if so.
- 2.Table: x = 1, 3, 5 and y = 4, 10, 16. Is this proportional?
- 3.Chloe earns $15 for 2 hours of babysitting, $30 for 4 hours, and $52.50 for 7 hours. Is her pay proportional to her hours? Show the ratios.
- 4.A taxi charges $5 just to start, plus $2 per mile. Test 1, 2, and 3 miles. Is the cost proportional to distance?
- 5.Make your own table of 3 pairs of numbers that is NOT proportional, and explain how you know using the ratio test.
