Formatting and Finalizing the Report

Add a title and section headings, attach the Works Consulted list, and proofread to produce a finished final copy.

Formatting makes a report easy to navigate: a clear title, a heading before each body section matching your outline's subtopics, and the Works Consulted list attached at the end.

Proofreading is a final, careful read focused only on remaining small errors -- spelling, punctuation, and making sure every section heading actually matches what is written underneath it.

📋 For the teacher
Teach it (10–15 min):
  • Brainstorm three or four possible titles together before settling on the strongest one.
  • Check each section heading against its paragraph out loud: does this heading actually describe what follows?
  • Do one final proofreading pass focused only on spelling and punctuation, separate from the content check.
  • Help format the Works Consulted list neatly and consistently at the very end of the document.
Talk about it:
  • What title did you choose, and why?
  • Did any section heading need to be adjusted to match its paragraph?
  • What is one small error you caught during proofreading?

Mastery looks like: They produce a fully formatted final report with a specific title, matching section headings, an attached Works Consulted list, and no remaining small errors.

Common stumbles: Choosing a generic title identical to the topic name; a heading that no longer matches its paragraph after revisions were made.
