Review the genres encountered across the year -- realistic fiction, historical fiction, fantasy, mystery, biography, poetry, myths and legends, and nonfiction -- and match a specific example to each.
All year you have read across many genres without necessarily naming them all at once: realistic fiction, historical fiction, fantasy, mystery, biography, poetry, myths and legends, and nonfiction or informational text. This week is a celebration lap -- filling in a genre bingo card with a real example of each type you have read this year.
Naming the genre of something you have already read is a different skill than reading it in the first place -- it asks you to step back and classify, using the genre conventions studied back in Week 22.
Mastery looks like: They correctly classify at least six of the eight genres with a specific, real example from their own reading this year.
Common stumbles: Confusing historical fiction with straight nonfiction, or fantasy with myth and legend, without checking the specific genre conventions.
