Give and receive specific, kind feedback on a piece of writing using a "two stars and a wish" structure.
Sharing your writing with someone else is one of the best ways to improve it. This week you give and get feedback using a simple pattern: TWO STARS AND A WISH.
A "star" is something specific you liked: not just "good job," but exactly what worked, like "your closing sentence really echoed your topic sentence." A "wish" is one specific, kind suggestion for what could be even stronger.
Good feedback is specific and kind at the same time. "I liked it" is not specific. "I liked how your second detail sentence used the word finally" is specific and helpful.
Mastery looks like: They give at least two specific stars and one specific, kind wish about a piece of writing, and can receive similar feedback without feeling discouraged.
Common stumbles: Giving vague praise ("it was good") instead of pointing to something specific; phrasing a wish so bluntly that it sounds like criticism instead of a helpful suggestion.
