Expert Talk Presentation

Present the informative report aloud as an expert talk, teaching the audience clearly and answering a real question about the topic.

This week you become the expert you researched all unit. You will give an EXPERT TALK, teaching your family real facts about your topic out loud.

Speak clearly and a little slower than normal conversation, since your audience is hearing these facts for the first time. Show your diagram or text feature as you talk about the matching part.

A real expert can also answer questions. After your talk, let your audience ask you one question about your topic, and answer using what you learned.

📋 For the teacher
Teach it (10–15 min):
  • Gather real family members as the audience for this expert talk -- a genuine audience makes the presentation feel meaningful.
  • Coach a clear, slightly slower speaking pace beforehand, since new information is harder to follow when rushed.
  • Ask a genuine, curious question about the topic rather than a quiz question, and let your child enjoy answering as the real expert in the room.
  • Reflect together on the whole research journey, from choosing a topic in week 19 to this final presentation.
Talk about it:
  • How did it feel to teach your family something you researched yourself?
  • What question did your audience ask, and how did you answer it?
  • What is one thing you would research differently next time?

Mastery looks like: They present their report aloud clearly, referencing their text feature, and accurately answer a real question about their topic.

Common stumbles: Speaking too quickly for new information to land with the audience; answering a question with a guess instead of a fact from real research.
