Weather-station finale

Synthesize the unit into a complete weather-station report covering observation tools, several days of data, and a climate comparison, while reflecting on the year's science learning.

For your final project, pull together this whole unit into one weather-station report. It should describe the tools and methods used to observe temperature, sky condition, precipitation, and wind (from week 28), include a graph or table of a few days of data (week 29), and add a short statement about how that data fits, or does not fit, your region's usual climate pattern (weeks 30, 31, and 35).

This is also a chance to look back at the whole year of science, forces and motion, life cycles and inherited traits, habitats and adaptation, and weather and climate, and reflect on what stood out most.

📋 For the teacher
Teach it (10–15 min):
  • Help assemble the final weather-station report together, pulling in real data from week 28 and the graph skill from week 29 if possible.
  • Take a moment to look back across the whole year's science units with the child before starting the reflection questions.
  • Push gently for a SPECIFIC favorite idea and reason in the reflection, rather than accepting a vague "I liked it all."
  • Celebrate finishing a full year of real scientific practice: observing, testing, concluding, and designing.
Talk about it:
  • Which of the four science units this year, forces, traits and cycles, habitats, or weather, was your favorite?
  • What is one question you still want to explore in science?
  • How did today's data compare to what you expected for this time of year?

Mastery looks like: They produce a complete weather-station report covering tools, data, and a climate comparison, and reflect meaningfully on the year.

Common stumbles: Reporting data without connecting it back to the region's climate pattern, or giving a vague, rushed reflection instead of a specific idea.
