Review and connect life cycles, metamorphosis, inherited and learned traits, environmental effects on traits, variation and survival, and fossil evidence.
This unit told one connected story: every living thing has a life cycle with shared big stages (weeks 10 and 11); traits pass from parents through inheritance, which is different from learned behaviors (weeks 12 and 13); environment can shape how an inherited trait actually turns out (week 14); variation between individuals can matter for survival when the environment changes (week 15); and fossils are a window into the life cycles and traits of organisms from long, long ago (week 16).
This week, pull all of these ideas back together and practice explaining how they connect to one another, not just as separate facts.
Mastery looks like: They correctly answer at least one review question from each of the unit's five sub-topics and can explain one connection between ideas.
Common stumbles: Treating each week's idea as a separate, disconnected fact rather than seeing how inheritance, variation, environment, and fossils relate to one another.
