Checkpoint: 2, 5, 10, 3, 4 automatic

Show fluent recall of the ×2, ×5, ×10, ×3, and ×4 facts and choose a strategy for any of them.

This is a checkpoint week — a chance to show what is automatic and spot what still needs a little work. There is no trick to learn today, just proof of your progress.

For any fact, you now have a strategy: double for ×2, double-double for ×4, skip count for ×5 and ×10, and double-plus-a-group for ×3. A strategy means you are never stuck.

📋 For the teacher
Teach it (10–15 min):
  • Do a warm, low-pressure mixed quiz — celebrate the automatic ones out loud.
  • For any slow fact, have them SAY the strategy, not just guess.
  • Note the 2–3 facts that need another week and fold them into next unit is warm-ups.
  • Frame this as a milestone: they have half the times table on lock.
Talk about it:
  • Which facts felt automatic today?
  • Which strategy is your favorite?
  • What are your two facts to keep practicing?

Mastery looks like: They recall the 2/5/10/3/4 facts quickly and can name a strategy for any fact they pause on.

Common stumbles: Guessing instead of using a strategy; rushing and making careless slips on easy facts.
