Seed-to-plant poster

Sequence and label the stages of a plant life cycle from seed to new seeds, including where pollination and seed dispersal fit in.

A plant's life is a cycle, not a straight line: it starts as a seed, sprouts, grows leaves, grows flowers, and then, with a pollinator's help, makes brand new seeds of its own. Those new seeds can travel away and start the whole cycle over again.

Today you build a poster showing every stage in order, plus a check-in on the real seed you planted last week. A cycle poster is a great way to see how all the pieces you have learned this unit connect into one story.

📋 For the teacher
Teach it (10–15 min):
  • Help your child draw or arrange a life-cycle poster with each stage in order, using pictures, words, or both.
  • Check on the real seed planted last week and add its actual current stage to the poster.
  • Review pollinator and seed-dispersal vocabulary from earlier in the unit while labeling those stages.
  • Point out that the cycle is a circle, not a line, since new seeds start the whole story over again.
Talk about it:
  • What stage is your real planted seed at right now?
  • Where on this poster does a pollinator's job happen?
  • Where on this poster does a seed-traveling animal's job happen?

Mastery looks like: They correctly sequence and label the stages of a plant life cycle from seed to new seeds, including where pollination and seed dispersal fit.

Common stumbles: Forgetting that the cycle repeats, with new seeds starting it over, rather than ending at a fully grown plant; leaving out the pollination or seed-dispersal steps learned earlier in the unit.
