Economics fair

Present a final economics project that applies goods and services, producers and consumers, and money concepts learned this unit.

This week is your economics fair -- a chance to show off everything you have learned about goods, services, producers, consumers, trade, and money. You will present your pretend shop or kid-preneur idea like a real young business owner.

A strong presentation explains clearly: what you are selling, who your customer is, what it costs, and why someone would want to buy it. Being able to explain your OWN idea clearly is one of the best signs you really understand it.

📋 For the teacher
Teach it (10–15 min):
  • Help your child choose which project to feature: the pretend shop (week 33) or the kid-preneur idea (week 35), or a combination.
  • Practice the presentation out loud together at least once before the "real" presentation.
  • Set up a small fair moment -- a table, a sign, maybe even pretend customers (family members) -- to make it feel real.
  • After the presentation, ask your child to name one thing they learned this unit that surprised them.
Talk about it:
  • What business idea did you present, and what does it sell?
  • What economics word from this unit do you feel you understand best now?
  • What was the most fun part of running your pretend business?

Mastery looks like: They can clearly present their own business idea, correctly using this unit's economics vocabulary (goods, services, producer, consumer, price, customer).

Common stumbles: Presenting the idea without being able to explain WHY a customer would want it, or misusing key vocabulary like producer and consumer.
