The Law of Sines and the ambiguous case — Homework
Set up the Law of Sines by pairing each side with the angle across from it, and check the ambiguous case fully.
- 1.For A=30 degrees, a=5, b=12, find sin(B) and state what it tells you.
- 2.For A=50 degrees, a=20, b=15, find angle B.
- 3.Using the previous problem, find angle C, and explain why the supplementary angle for B is not a second valid solution here.
- 4.For A=35 degrees, a=10, b=16, find sin(B), both possible values of B, and check which (if any) produce a valid triangle.
- 5.Explain why SSA can produce two different triangles while ASA never can.
