Functions revisited: domain, range, and operations on functions — Homework

Form each combined function and its domain first, then evaluate. Show h(-x) fully before deciding even, odd, or neither.

  1. 1.Let f(x)=x^2-5 and g(x)=x+3. Find (f+g)(x) and its domain.
  2. 2.Let f(x)=sqrt(x-6) and g(x)=x. Find (f/g)(x) and its domain.
  3. 3.Evaluate (f*g)(3) for f(x)=x^2 and g(x)=x-1.
  4. 4.Determine whether p(x)=x^4-2x^2 is even, odd, or neither. Show p(-x).
  5. 5.Determine whether q(x)=x^3+x^2 is even, odd, or neither. Show q(-x).
