Reflection and Mirrors — Homework
Work through the mirror equation's sign convention consistently: positive f for concave, negative f for convex.
- 1.An object sits 25 cm from a concave mirror with a focal length of 10 cm. Find the image distance and the magnification.
- 2.Using the previous problem's result, state whether the image is real or virtual, upright or inverted, and enlarged or reduced.
- 3.State the law of reflection in your own words, and explain how a flat mirror image's distance behind the mirror relates to the object's distance in front of it.
- 4.Explain why a convex mirror always produces a virtual, upright, reduced image, no matter how close or far the object is.
- 5.Describe the flashlight-and-mirror lab (or the spoon demonstration) and what it showed you about the law of reflection or curved mirrors.
