Parallelograms: properties and proofs — Homework

Apply the parallelogram properties, or select a converse theorem to prove a quadrilateral is a parallelogram.

  1. 1.In parallelogram ABCD, AB = 14. Find CD.
  2. 2.In parallelogram ABCD, angle A = 78 degrees. Find angle C and angle B.
  3. 3.In parallelogram EFGH, diagonals meet at point M, with EM = 11 and FM = 7. Find MG and MH.
  4. 4.Quadrilateral RSTU has RS ~= TU and ST ~= RU (both pairs of opposite sides congruent). Is RSTU necessarily a parallelogram? Which theorem justifies it?
  5. 5.A student knows quadrilateral ABCD has AB parallel to CD, but not whether AB ~= CD or AD is parallel to BC. Is ABCD necessarily a parallelogram? What extra fact would settle it?
